Parvovirus B19 ELITe MGB^® Kit

Human parvovirus B19 (PVB19), member of the Parvoviridae family, is prevalent in the general population, and is mostly acquired during childhood. It is responsible for a skin rash illness known as “fifth disease”. Latent Parvovirus B19 can be reactivated after kidney transplantation, and may lead to serious complications, especially in anemic patients, by impairing red blood cell production. Detection of Parvovirus B19 and viral load monitoring are crucial in these patients in order to initiate early polyvalent immunoglobulins treatment and prevent transplant failure. Monitoring is also important during pregnancy to confirm an ongoing infection and allow timely initiation of appropriate therapy.

Parvovirus B19 ELITe MGB^® Kit is a real-time PCR assay, designed for the detection and quantification of Parvovirus B19 infections.

The assay is validated for use with ELITe InGenius^® and ELITe BeGenius^® instruments for whole blood and amniotic fluid.
