Meningitis Viral 1 ELITe MGB® Panel

HSV1, HSV2 and VZV are common causes of viral meningitis in adolescents and adults. These infections can cause similar symptoms to bacterial meningitis, and induce serious inflammations, like herpetic meningo-encephalitis, a therapeutic emergency resulting in important sequelae and a high mortality rate if untreated. Rapid detection of HSV1, HSV2 and VZV with molecular testing methods is crucial to identify the viral agent involved, rule out a bacterial infection and provide an adapted treatment. Meningitis Viral 1 ELITe MGB® Panel is a triplex PCR assay designed for the detection of type 1 and 2 herpes virus and varicella zoster virus specific genes in one single reaction. The assay is CE-IVD validated on cerebrospinal fluid samples, in combination with ELITe InGenius®, a fully automated sample-to-result solution.
