JCV ELITe MGB^® Kit

John Cunningham virus (JCV) is a polyomavirus that is usually asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals. Primary infection typically occurs during childhood and leads to a persistent, asymptomatic infection, mainly in the renourinary tract. Reactivation of latent JCV occurs when the immune system is compromised and is associated with infections of the central nervous system, which can lead to progressive neurological deficits. For this reason, JCV viral load testing is important for monitoring and preventing such complications in immunocompromised patients.

JCV ELITe MGB^® Kit is a real-time PCR assay, designed for the detection and quantification of JCV infections extracted from clinical specimens.

The assay is validated for use with ELITe InGenius^® and ELITe BeGenius^® instruments for plasma, urine and cerebrospinal fluid.
