HSV2 ELITe MGB^® Kit

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2) is a member of the Herpesviridae family and is primarily responsible for recurrent genital herpes. After the initial infection, the virus establishes latency in the peripheral nervous system, with the potential for periodic reactivation. After a solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, HSV2 reactivation generates extensive mucocutaneous disease and serious complications involving the central nervous system and internal organs.

The monitoring of HSV2 viral load over time can be clinically relevant to assess disease progression and response to antiviral therapy in high-risk patients. HSV2 ELITe MGB^® Kit is a real-time PCR assay, designed for the detection and quantification of HSV2 DNA extracted from clinical specimens.

The assay is validated for use with ELITe InGenius^® and ELITe BeGenius^® instruments for whole blood, plasma and cerebrospinal fluid.

The assay is also validated with the ELITe GALAXY automated extraction and PCR set-up system and 7500 Fast Dx Real-Time PCR Instrument, using whole blood.
