The Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex (MTBC) is a genetically related group of Mycobacterium species responsible for tuberculosis in humans, one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Tuberculosis is primarily a pulmonary disease transmitted via contaminated aerosol droplets but has many clinical manifestations, affecting bone, the central nervous system and leading to severe outcomes if untreated. Rapid and reliable detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis species with molecular methods is crucial, especially in immunocompromised subjects, to provide an appropriate therapy.

MTB ELITe MGB® Kit is a qualitative PCR assay for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex DNAs (M.tuberculosis, M.africanum, M.bovis, M. bovis BCG, M.microti and M.canettii). The assay is CE-IVD validated on bronchoalveolar lavages and bronchial aspirates with automated extraction and PCR systems.
